Recieved a 1944-dated Wool sleeping bag, taxes+administrative fee was as high as the cost of the bag itself,

Absolutely mint condition 1937 Tornister - no rips, tears, holes. Leatherwork perfect - 72 years old it is! :D

Nice.

There's something REALLY good about getting stuff like that. I always imagine the stories that must go with these things.

I always imagine the stories that must go with these things.

1936: Running around a field, whinnying.
1937: Made into a rucksack.
1937: Issued to a unit QM.
1937: Put into QM's stores.
1945: Boxed up and put into warehouse.
2009: Box found, put on eBay.

that sort of thing?

Nice find though, i must get one soon!

Pony hide originally

aka Stigroadie

AFRA
better by design

I always thought they were pony, then saw lots of references to cow hide, so I thought I must have been wrong.

Any idea when they changed?

Now Andy don't try licking or chewing it to try and figure out if it's pony or calf

And I'm sorry to say I've succumbed my camera-addiction again.

'Won' a Welta Weltini II Rangefinder Camera on that well-known site today

(Image copyright of retrography.com)

Weltini II (1937 - 1941) RF
Format: 24 x 36 on 35 mm film
Optics: Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon 1: 2,0 50 mm
Shutter: Compur Rapid T + B + 1 sec. => 1/500 sec.

Not sure if the lens on the one I bought looks as neat, and I know I'll need some small screws to secure the DOF table back to the top.

Have the boots arrived? What are they like? I'm generally pleased with Sanjay's stuff but the ammo boots he sold me were just awful. They felt like cardboard. Totally unwearable and not cheap either.

The Pershing Boots remind me of Roughouts from SM Wholesale (WPG) but the leather feels slightly thinner to me.
I've not worn them for more than a few minutes though and they feel solid enough.

I've got an M1917 Uniform from Sanjay, and compared it to an original. The fabric wasn't as tightly woven, but the pattern was good.
